Poster Session Information

Deadline: ​October 8th 2019

 

Lay Poster Instructions:

  • Posters should fit on an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper.

  • Poster in lay text and pictures that captures your research in simplest form.

  • Poster backside should contain a lay title, short paragraph about the project, the names of those on the project and presenters name and e-mail.

Scientific Poster Instructions

  • Posters can be up to 4ft wide and 4ft tall.

  • Pushpins and easels will be provided.

  • Hang posters during check-in.

  • Remove posters after Poster award announcement and concluding remarks.

  • Each participant will be provided with a poster board number on which they will put up their poster.

Presenting tips:

  • Be smart and creative, prepare an attractive poster.

  • Think of a good title and make your figures large.

  • Practice how to present your poster. You will show confidence and inspire insightful questions.

Prizes rules for Poster and Junior Talks Competition

  • The judges will be selected from the academic and industry professionals invited to the symposium.

  • The names of the judges will not be announced until the end of the event to prevent preferential treatment.  

  • The criteria to select the winners will be based on research innovation and presentation skills. 

  • The judges decision will be final.

Instructions:

  • If you are interested, send us your abstract (500-words maximum) by October 8th 2018.

  • Because the limited time, only a specific number of abstracts will be accepted.

  • You will have 10 minutes to present your work plus 5 minutes for questions.

  • Our recommendation is 1 slide per minute. Don't make it to long and neither to short.

This year, for the first time, we are thrilled to announce our first "When and How to Approach Pharma/Industry" Workshop with the UCLA Technology Development Group. You do not have to be a UCLA affiliate to participate. Take the opportunity to learn the skills you need and find answers to your questions you have about your research, compounds and data now and for the future collaborations with Pharma and Industry.

  • Please contact twest@mednet.ucla.edu if you need to cancel your seat, so that we may add someone who is waiting.

  • Arrive on time for registration and get your poster up.

  • Take notes and participate in Q&A. 

  • Enjoy the healthy lunch and be sure to talk to our poster presenters and learn about their research, you never know, you may just find a new collaboration! 

  • Learn about the younger generation of future scientists as SPARK 101 members from David Geffen Academy, present their work with UCLA student and post-doc mentors.

  • Be sure to stick around for dinner and the awards presentation

  • If you haven't already done so, please take the Metabolism Theme Satisfaction Survey. We will be awarding a 2 night weekend staycation, at PaliHotel Westwood and a $100 dining certificate from FELLOW in Westwood.
